The father of the boy who first accused Michael Jackson of molestation was found dead in his New Jersey home on Nov. 5, according to published reports.

The New York Daily News reported that Evan Chandler, 65, who suffered from a serious ailment, missed his appointment with his hematologist earlier that day, prompting the doctor’s office to alert the concierge at Chandler’s luxury waterfront home to check on him.

According to the Jersey City Police Department spokesman Stan H. Eason, Chandler was found dead, lying across his bed with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head from a .38 caliber revolver that he was still holding.

Authorities would not disclose Chandler’s illness.

Chandler, a retired dentist, first gained media attention when he administered Amytal sodium, a controversial sedative (also labeled “truth serum”) to his son, Jordan Chandler, during a dental procedure, a year after his son, who was then, 12, began attending sleepovers at Jackson’s Neverland Ranch.

In 1993, Chandler and his son filed a civil suit against Jackson, accusing him of sexual abuse but the case never went to trial. They withdrew their claims after Jackson reportedly paid the family $20 million to stop the allegations. The choice to settle out of court in exchange for a financial settlement was initiated by Chandler.

Jordan, now 29, had been estranged from his father since 2006 after he accused Chandler of attacking him with a barbell, choking him and spraying him with Mace, according to the New York Daily News. The charges against him were eventually dropped.

Do you think that Evan Chandler killed himself because he was riddled with years of guilt after accusing Michael Jackson of sexual molesting his son in order to get a large financial settlement?
