Robert Bobb, the emergency financial manager appointed to oversee the operations of the DPS, returns as a featured panelist for the first session of the Pancakes & Politics 2010 season on March 19, 2010, at the Detroit Athletic Club to address these issues and more. Bobb will join Wayne State University President Jay Noren and Wayne County Community College Chancellor Curtis Ivery on the panel.
Titled “Education 911: The Conversation Continues,” the forum will touch on the progress of DPS in addressing its financial, administrative and curriculum challenges; other strategies being considered to confront shrinking budgets and declining resources; and how the Bond Program Manager Joint Venture Team is expected to allocate the funds for the district’s $500.5 million School Construction and Modernization Program.
“Robert Bobb has made tremendous strides during his tenure so far, but we’ve got a long way to go,” said Sam Logan, publisher of the Michigan Chronicle. “The Detroit Public Schools system is in the midst of an education crisis of unprecedented proportion and we are excited that Robert Bobb has again chosen Pancakes & Politics as an outlet to discuss in more detail his future plans to revitalize the district.”
