“I recognize the extremely poor judgment that I used both in having an affair six years ago — including the embarrassing communication I exhibited during that time — and in attempting to deal with the extortion scheme at first by myself,” Jackson said in a prepared statement.

“I made some egregious errors. I apologize for any embarrassment I may have caused my family, friends and, of course, the Warriors.”

The defendants made their first attempt to extort Jackson on April 3, when Marcus Shaw, her alleged accomplice, met him in a Memphis hotel. Shaw allegedly gave Jackson photos and a CD with embarrassing recordings. Jackson reportedly gave up $5,000 immediately and destroyed the compromising evidence. But federal authorities say Shaw and Adams really wanted more than $185,000.

Before the April 3, meeting Adams reportedly sent a text message to Shaw that read, “Concentrate and (expletive) him up. He is a Fake (expletive) man of god.”

Jackson is co-pastor [3]of True Love Worship Center in Van Nuys, California.

On April 20, Shaw told Jackson’s wife via an email containing samples of the photos, that Jackson needed to protect himself from embarrassment, according to The Post.

But they were caught by the feds during the extortion scheme. The feds reportedly have the two on tape working together to extort Jackson. Adams is charged with conspiracy and extortion, and faces up to five years in prison. Shaw is charged with extortion, and faces up to two years.

Adams is out on bond, but Shaw is still locked up because he has a prior conviction for aggravated robbery, according to the Associated Press[4]. He served 12 years in prison.

Not excusing his affair, Jackson’s statement also said that “At that time in my life, I was not pastoring. Three years ago, my wife and I established a ministry. With deepest regret, I want to apologize to my Church Family. I was wrong. We must live Holy.”
