    Minister Celeste as Smart Object-1

    The Council of Baptist Pastors of Detroit and Vicinity in collaboration with the Detroit Department of Health and Wellness hosted the 7th Annual City-Wide Revival and Faith-Based Substance Abuse Conference on Saturday, July 14, 2012 through Wednesday, July 18, 2012. Under the leadership of Council President, Dr. Michael Andrew Owens (Pastor of Bethel Baptist Church, East), the Conference focused on reviving the city, with a specific highlight of youth in the community. Many city leaders gathered and rallied in support of the Conference. Among those leaders was State Representative Alberta Tinsley-Talabi who stated, “There’s not a block in the city that doesn’t need healing.”

     

    On Monday, July 16th the youth focus opened with a prayer covering for the youth of the city by Rev. Daniel Ridgeway, keynote youth message by award-winning author, Minister Eddie Conner, and revival message by Rev. Tolan J. Morgan, Sr., Pastor of New St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor Morgan’s sermonic presentation, “Will You Be Made Whole?” moved the congregants to an experience of worship and praise, as he proclaimed the need of deliverance from tradition. He further declared that there has to be a deliverance of the mental, personal, social and spiritual nature. A special highlight of the evening’s service was an old school musical rendition of “Amazing Grace” by anointed psalmist, Evangelist E. Theresa Moss, the sister of PAJAM Music Group’s J. Moss.

     

    The Conference also encompassed informational workshops by the Detroit Department of Health and Wellness relating to marijuana and synthetic Drugs, toxic relationships, and anti-bullying. The Bureau of Substance Abuse operates under the leadership of Director, Dr. Kanzoni Asabigi.
