Farbman Group and Jackets for Jobs
partner to collect 1,000 suits in five days,
    unemployed job seekers benefit

Farbman Group recently announced that the full service commercial real estate firm has partnered with Jackets For Jobs to launch Drive To Thrive, an effort to collect more than 1,000 gently used business suits, beginning Monday, June 17, and continuing through Friday, June 21. Individuals are invited to drop off gently used men’s and women’s suits at the Detroit and Detroit-area Farbman Group office properties detailed below.

Jackets For Jobs is a Detroit-based non-profit organization that helps provide career skills training, employment etiquette and professional clothing to job seekers. The organization relies on clothing donations such as Drive To Thrive to ensure it has the inventory to appropriately dress its clients for work, many of whom leave its shop to go directly to an interview.

“We invite our business colleagues and neighbors — thousands of whom come through the doors of our properties every day — to join us in this effort,” said Andy Farbman, CEO of Farbman Group. “Together, we are helping to provide one of the resources needed so that individuals feel and look their best while seeking to re-enter the workforce and, ultimately, thrive. For those who are cleaning out their closets during the change of season, it’s a perfect time to consider donating to this award winning program.”

Clothing donations should meet these guidelines: All clothing must be clean, dry-cleaned, washed or ironed and on a hanger, ensuring it will arrive at Jackets For Jobs without wrinkles. Clothing must be in good condition, with no stains, moth holes, buttons missing, rips or tears, or broken zippers.

Clothing must be in current style and suitable for the workplace. Basic colors such as black, brown, navy and white are in great demand, but others are welcome. In addition to suits, jackets, shirts and dresses, accessories such as shoes, belts, jewelry, handbags and unopened cosmetics are also greatly appreciated. The organization has a special need for coats, umbrellas and plus-sized suits for women and big and tall suits for men.

Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowable by law. Tax receipts are provided by request at each buildings management office unless otherwise noted. Drop-off boxes are provided in the lobby of each building.

Drive To Thrive is part of Farbman Cares, Farbman Group’s commitment to corporate citizenship. Farbman Group is committed to the well-being of its employees, clients and community and strives to be good and caring corporate citizens and to leave the world a better place through its efforts. Past Farbman Cares initiatives have included school supply and canned food drives as well as participation in bake sales and fundraiser walks.

Jackets For Jobs is a non-profit organization that helps low income women and men make the transition to work by providing professional business attire and career counseling. Since opening its doors in 2000, Jackets For Jobs has helped over 14,000 individuals with employment, including over 1,000 people in 2012. The organization has been supported and applauded by ABC’s “The View,” NBC’s “Today Show” and Oprah Winfrey’s O magazine. A highlight of the organization was the honor of ringing the closing bell on the NASDAQ. The organization is also proud to be in charitable partnership with TJ Maxx.
