The Troy Public Library is offering a free, two-week program called “Computer Skills for the Job Seeker.” Over a course of 30 hours, attendees will learn how to organize their computer files; create an electronic resume in Microsoft Word; communicate with employers via E-Mail; apply for jobs online; successfully interview; and stay in contact using social network websites.
There will also be plenty of time for individualized one-on-one assistance, and a comprehensive workbook. The sessions will be held in the Library Training Room. All classes will be taught by the Library’s award-winning staff.

Another free program, entitled “What Employers Really Want”, is being offered on July 30 from 10:15 am to 11:15 a.m. This panel discussion with local business experts will address about what to emphasize when going on that all-important job interview.
The panelists include Jessica Hammond, vice president, talent acquisition, United Shore Financial Services; Troy City Manager Brian Kischnick; Lisa Palo, talent acquisition, Altair; and Jennifer Robert, vice president of information technology, Genisys Credit Union.
Library Director Cathy Russ will moderate the discussion.
