TI Film Festival Attracts Filmmakers from Around the World to Detroit

    The 7th Annual Trinity International Film Festival has become a signature event in Detroit for independent filmmakers. Featuring 35 Independent Films from 12 different countries from around the world. This year’s event will take place on September 20-21, 2013 at the beautiful Carr Center, in Harmonie Park ( 311 E. Grand River, Detroit, Michigan 48226).

    The weekend includes:
    The Opening Night Film Mixer: Friday, September 20th, 6:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
    Free Movie Screenings: Saturday, September 21st, 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
    Closing Night Awards Ceremony: 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

    Detroit Filmmakers in attendance include:

    Community leaders Steve Perry and Piper Locklear are galvanizing Michigan’s Native American for the screening of “The Thick Dark Fog,” by Director, Randy Vasquez.

    As a highlight, one filmmaker will be selected and awarded with the My TV20 Best Short Film Award, and their film will be featured on a televised episode of the show “Detroit Short Takes. In addition to the awesome prizes from My TV20, winners of this year’s best feature and short film categories will receive a dynamic filmmakers prize pack from Sony which will include more than $3,500 worth of Sony Vegas editing software, sound effects, and more!

    Detroit is home to many talented artists. The Trinity International Film Festival will honor local professionals working in the film industry in Detroit. Our ten finalist include: Actor, June Shelton, Cinematographer, JoiRida Cheatham, Director/Screenwriter, Anthony Cuffie, Producer/Graphic Designer, Melissa Talbot, Director, Charles Kennedy, Director/Producer/Screenwriter, Darren Brown, Cinematographer/Editor, Roe Dayzon, Actress Shawntay Dalon, Producer/Screenwriter, Sareta Cheathem, and Actress, Ayanna Fillilove. he final results of our nominees will be announced at our awards ceremony on Saturday, September 21, 2013.

    About the TI Film Festival
    The Trinity Film Coalition (TFC) Film Festival was co-founded by Detroit based independent filmmakers 2007 and renamed the Trinity International Film Festival in 2013. Now in its 7th year, this festival continues to provide a platform for artists around the world to showcase their films, network and gain access to viable industry resources.

    Over the years 60 local and national filmmakers and have awarded sponsored prizes provided by Sony. In previous years, winners of our “Best Short Film” category have aired nationally on the BET-J and locally on MY TV20.

    The TFC Film Festival has hosted industry professionals locally and nationally to share their knowledge and expertise in various workshops and industry discussions. Special guests have included famed Actress and Producer, Tangi Miller, Syndicated Radio Host and Film Producer, Russ Parr, and Former BET Executive Producer, Ralph Scott, currently with the Aspire Network (Owned by Magic Johnson), film segment producer/head of production for more than 100 episodes of SNL, Tanya Ryno and Writer, Director, Qasim Basir.

    The best highlight of the over the years has been all of the innovative work we’ve showcased by indie filmmakers and our audience that supports the TI Film Festival.
