In 1794, a Portuguese slave ship, dubbed Sao Jose-Paquete de Africa, sank near Capetown while en route from Mozambique to Brazil. Now over 200 years later, archeologists and divers believe they have discovered the remains from the ship. There were more than 500 slaves on board when the ship sank. The crew and more than half the slaves drowned. The slaves who survived the incident were believed to have been sold in the Western Cape. “The Sao Jose slave shipwreck site reverberates with historical significance and represents an addition to our underwater heritage that has the potential to advance knowledge and understanding of slavery, not only at the Cape but on a global level,” said Rooksana Omar, CEO of Iziko Museums. ‘Empire’ Season 2 Air Date Announced

One of the hottest shows on television this year has officially announced the release date for its second season. Empire will be back on air on Wednesday, September 23rd. The show’s writers took to Twitter to share the news with fans. “#Empire fans! @EmpireFOX Season 2 returns Wednesday, September 23, 2015! #MarkYourCalendars #GameTimeBitches,” they tweeted. Keke Palmer Nabs Role in ‘Grease’ Musical

After gracing the stage as Cinderella on Broadway, actress Keke Palmer is on to her next theatrical project. According to reports, Palmer will be a part of FOX’s broadcast of Grease: Live! She will play the role of Marty Maraschino, one of the Pink Ladies. “From Broadway to film, and across generations, Grease is one of the most beloved musical stories ever told – and we can’t wait to bring it to our air in a spectacular live event,” Shana C. Waterman, senior vice president of Event Series for Fox, said in a statement. Vanessa Hudgens and Julianne Hough will also star in the production. TSA Director Resigns after Security Breaches

The director of the Transportation Security Administration, Melvin Carraway, has been removed following an investigation that showed several security breaches at different airports. During the investigation, undercover detectives were able to get past the TSA with mock explosives and banned weapons. Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson released a memo on Monday showing the steps that are being taken to tighten up security. He also released a statement about Carraway. “I thank Melvin Carraway for his eleven years of service to TSA and his 36 years of public service,” he said. Read more.
