“Empower a Girl, Empower the World!” is the motto of the Pretty Brown Girl Movement, so it is only innate for them to highlight this message during this time of year. Empowerment is the essential element for making both change and progress, individually and collectively. The Pretty Brown Girl Movement believes that given the proper tools and support, all girls can be empowered to succeed.

The Pretty Brown Girl Foundation, founded by Native Detroiter, Sheri Crawley, is hosting its first annual “Laila & Me” Holiday ParTea.  “We are offering young ladies an opportunity to come together with their signature Pretty Brown Girl “Laila” dolls and celebrate with each other while enjoying tasty teas and learning about etiquette.”  Guest speakers will include Asia Newson, Super Business Girl, who is known as Detroit’s Youngest Entrepreneur and Nailah Ellis, CEO/Founder of Ellis Island Tropical Teas.

The Pretty Brown Girl Holiday ParTea will take place on Sunday, December, 14, 2014 from 2 p.m.- 5 p.m.at the Westin Hotel in Southfield, Michigan. Tickets are $25 and registration includes a meal and activities.
