The Coast II Coast All-Stars were founded by Howard Hayes, a native son of Detroit. Mr. Hayes played high school basketball at Detroit Public School’s Thomas M. Cooley High School in Detroit. During his tenure, the team won three state basketball championships. Hayes went on to play college basketball at Chicago State University. Hayes’ professional basketball career afforded him the opportunity to play in several countries including Japan, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Canada and China. He also played in the ABA for teams in Los Angeles, Fresno, Seaside, Modesto and back in his hometown of Detroit,
The Coast II Coast All-Stars will provide Detroit area players an opportunity to showcase their basketball talents in a professional league at venues around the country. The Coast II Coast All-Stars looks forward to delighting fans with great basketball. Equally important, however, team owner Hayes wants his players to become involved with the community through community service activities. To date, players have read to children at a local Head Start facility.
The Coast II Coast All-Stars are coached by Dennis Foster, Jr., a stand out player at Marygrove College and a champion player in Ireland’s professional basketball league.
