Dr. Dre is denying reports he tried to end the feud between himself and former partner Suge Knight. Sources close to Knight told TMZ on the day of the fatal hit-and-run he was involved in, the ex-Death Row Records CEO came to see Dre on the set of Straight Outta Compton’s commercial. Knight alleges Dre went to Compton at Dre’s behest to end their issues but when he arrived, Knight and Dre’s security team got into a shoving match. Off duty police officers saw the incident taking place and made Knight vacate the premises. Later, victim Terry Carter, who is also Knight’s friend allegedly called him to meet up with Dre at another location so they can squash their beef. Knight claims when he arrived he was jumped as he was trying to exit his truck.
Dre is claiming Knight’s story about meeting him is nothing more than a work of fiction. TMZ spoke with sources connected to Dre who say the entire thing never happened. Dre’s camp points out the person who can back up Knight’s charges, Carter is dead. According to Dre’s people, the rapper/producer isn’t interested in being around his old friend because Knight’s racked up tons of enemies over the years and doesn’t want to be around his mess. Last year, Knight was shot six times at a Pre-VMA party hosted by Chris Brown.
On the day of Carter’s murder, Knight and Cle “Bone” Sloan got into a fight while he was in the driver’s seat of his truck. Knight then allegedly tried to speed off and hit Slone, when Carter tried to pull him from behind the truck. Knight then put the truck in reverse and ran over Carter’s head two times killing him and fled the scene.
