Mariah Carey is insisting that she sent her publicist Cindi Berger packing–not that other way around.

Earlier this week there were reports that Cindi had dumped Mimi as a client, but that might not be true.

Refusing to allow her reputation be sullied, Mariah must be thankful that TMZ.com has published a letter that seems to prove she fired the publicist.

“I’ve done a lot of soul-searching this past year,” Mariah wrote in her message, “and I found myself asking if I was truly employing a healthy perspective (not to sound too Oprah about it all :).”

Noting that she believes it’s time for her “bring a fresh approach to this new phase in my career,” Mariah supposedly told her, “I think it’s time for us to take a break Cindi.”

Cindi maintains, however, that she was the one who left Mariah in the dust.

Mariah herself hasn’t confirmed that she actually wrote the breakup letter, but it doesn’t really matter because Cindi’s camp said they never got the message.
