Many music artists are using their platform as an avenue to bring attention to social issues. New Jersey-bred songstress Lauryn Hill decided to cancel one of her upcoming performances in Israel because she wasn’t able to have a similar concert in Ramallah, a city located in Palestine. “When deciding to play the region, my intention was to perform in both Tel Aviv and Ramallah,” the singer said in a statement. “Setting up a performance in the Palestinian Territory, at the same time as our show in Israel, proved to be a challenge.” She was slated to perform at Rishon LeZion, which is the country’s largest open venue, on May 7th. Chris Brown Accused of Assault
It seemed like after Chris Brown announced he fathered a daughter, he was leaving his tumultuous ways in the past; however they’ve caught up to him yet again. The Virginia native is suspected of allegedly assaulting someone during an early morning basketball game yesterday. A man is claiming that Brown punched him in the face after an argument ensued on the basketball court. “A verbal altercation on the court led to a physical fight and the victim was punched by another male subject who was later identified as 25-year-old recording artist Chris Brown,” read a statement from the police. Brown’s reps are denying that he had any involvement in the altercation. Read more.
“The Walking Dead” Star Charged With a DUI
The Walking Dead star Seth Gilliam was arrested in Peachtree City, Georgia this past weekend. According to reports Gilliam, who plays Rev. Gabriel Stokes, was arrested for going 107 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone. After being pulled over, he was taken to Fayette County Jail and charged with speeding, a DUI, and drug possession. Read more.
