The Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix in an exciting partnership with Platinum Equity unveiled new lighting on the MacArthur Bridge in a dramatic ceremonial lighting Thursday night.
Bud Denker, chairman of the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix and Dan Whelan, senior vice president at Platinum Equity, raced over the bridge in a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro Pace Car.
The new and improved high-efficiency LED lights — replacing broken and aging ones — were courtesy of Tom Gores, owner of the Detroit Pistons and Palace Sports & Entertainment and chairman and CEO of Platinum Equity.
This improvement come ahead of the Grand Prix on the Detroit landmark May 29-31.
