Forgotten Harvest and Midas are partnering to host a local “Drive Out Hunger #1Mile1Meal” event June 11 to collect food donations that will go toward Forgotten Harvest and the agencies the nonprofit serves. The event will be from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Midas Lake Orion location (591 South Lapeer Road).
In November of 2014, Midas launched Drive Out Hunger. To date more than 750,000 meals have been donated. Midas is working with local food banks to bring food, funds and hands-on assistance to hunger relief efforts in the communities where its customers and associates live and work.
In addition to the food collection truck, there will be music, lemonade and giveaways. The Lake Orion event is part of a road trip covering 10,000 miles in 40 days across 25 cities in the U.S. and Canada, serving various local community food banks. For every use of #1Mile1Meal on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook, Midas will donate another meal to local food banks.
“We appreciate the support of Midas and its commitment to fighter hunger in North America,” said Forgotten Harvest CEO Kirk Mayes. “We’re looking forward to the event and continuing our mission of providing nutritious meals to metro Detroiters in need.”
