Dilla DounutsTuesday, Dilla Delights will celebrate the one week opening of it’s highly anticipated donut shop in the heart of downtown Detroit. Located on John R near Grand Circus Park the donut shop dishes out unique donut flavors, D-Lime Glaze and Cakeboy, to name a few.

For years, Dilla’s Delights have been around via pop-ups at Red Hook Cafe, Parker Street Market, Cafe and Goodwell’s Natural Food Market.

61-year-old baker, Herman “Uncle Herm” Hayes, open the donut shop in honor of his nephew, legendary producer James Dewitt Yancey, aka J.Dilla. The shop didn’t receive its final health inspection approval until this past Monday. By Tuesday at 5 a.m., the official storefront was open to the public.

Dilla’s Delights is open Monday through Saturday from 5 a.m. until sellout. Dilla Delights posted a huge Thank you of support and appreciation for everyone’s patience if they missed out on one of the tasty treats this week.

“Thank you to everyone who has come out this week. We secured our final inspection on Monday and just ran with it. We have only been open for 4 days, or a grand total of about 30 hours, we still have bugs to work out. Apologies to anyone who has come through to an empty shop or a locked door. We are workinonit.” ~ Dilla Delights
