Donald Trump running for president is a never-ending series of conflicts. On one hand, he managed to be a key participator in one of the most crowded primaries in recent GOP history. While many thought his campaign was worth nothing more than a few chuckles, he managed to outlast and beat them all to become the front-runner. No matter how much racist and misogynist vitriol he spews, nothing keep “the Donald” down for too long. It’s in that context, that his likability levels being so low seems at odds.
“A new poll has revealed that the American public finds presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump even less likable than Nickelback. That’s gotta hurt. The poll was conducted by Public Polling Policy, and also found that the Donald is not only liked less than Nickelback, but also lice, jury duty, and root canals. Notably, the group who was polled said that they had a higher opinion of Trump than hemorrhoids and cockroaches. Congrats to Trump.”
Dentistry, as a profession, is one of the most hated in America. Jury duty sucks and one could imagine that lice isn’t favorable in any setting. But roaches being more likable than Trump? Everybody hates roaches. How is someone running for the presidency liked even less than something almost everybody hates? The poll also shows what some of his supporters believe in.
“Trump fans think that president Obama was not born in the United States: only 23 percent of Trump’s supporters think that the president was born on U.S. soil. Further, 24 percent believe that the recently deceased Supreme Court JusticeAntonin Scalia was murdered, with 42 percent believing he died naturally, and a whopping 34 percent who just weren’t sure.”
Despite all of this, Trump is only trailing Hilary Clinton by six points in terms of likability. These are scary times.
