McDonald’s presents the Center of Music & Performing Arts Southwest (COMPÁS) 2015-2016 Year-End Youth Recital at 1 p.m. on Sat., May 21 at Western International High School, 1500 Scotten Ave., Detroit. The event allows youth of all ages to showcase the high-quality instrumental music and performing arts education they have received throughout the school year. Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door.

COMPÁS, a program of the Southwest Detroit Business Association (SDBA), provides year-round, youth focused arts, recreation and educational opportunities. Its professional quality dance studio and renovated facility enables COMPÁS to offer lessons in various genres of dance, instrumental music and art with a focus on the diverse Latino heritage of Southwest Detroit.
The annual youth recital and year-end celebration will feature more than 80 performers and includes an awards ceremony with certificates of accomplishment for students and staff. Instrumental music performances will include guitar, and drums and percussions. Dance performances will include pre-dance, pre-ballet, ballet, flamenco, tap, hip-hop, breakdance, belly dance, and Mexican folk (ballet folklórico).
