sitinOn Wednesday, Congresswoman Brenda L. Lawrence (MI-14) released the following statement as she “sits-in” with House Democrats demanding a vote on gun violence in the House:

“Today, I stand with House Democrats on this historic day as we stage a sit-in on the House Floor. Just over a week ago, we lost 49 American lives due to senseless gun violence. Yet, House Republicans continue to block commonsense measures to expand background checks and legislation to ensure the safety of all Americans. In Michigan alone, we lose more than 1000 lives annually to gun violence. I will remain on the floor with my colleagues until House Republicans allow a vote to save American lives, to slow the trend of violence in our country and to keep our children safe. America deserves action, America demands a vote!”
