Tichina Arnold‘s split with her husband, Rico Hines, made headlines months ago after she accused him of cheating. Soon after, his sex tape had leaked to the public, causing many people to wonder if it was part of a petty revenge plot. Now, Arnold has come forward to explain what really went down.
During an appearance on The Preachers, she told the hosts that she sent a text to all of her closest friends telling them that she was leaving her ex. “‘People, I’m leaving him. This is over. Thank you for your prayers. Um, but it’s no longer…This is it,” she said she told her loved ones.
When she was asked how her ex’s tape leaked, she said it was leaked by one of her close friends. “It somehow got out,” she said. “Unfortunately my husband was recording himself.”
Arnold to People that as far as she’s concerned, her break was necessary for her to save herself. “It’s beyond the fact that the infidelity, it happens. We make mistakes. And we fixed a few mistakes of his prior infidelities,” she said. “But when it becomes a pattern, then it’s no longer my problem. There’s a point where you eventually have to jump ship and save yourself, so I just merely saved myself and represented a lot of women that don’t know how to save themselves.”
She continued, “I had that feeling of, you know, beyond him being my husband, this is supposed to be my friend, my confidant. Somebody who I can trust. And when you can’t trust the person that you sleep with every night, there’s a problem,” she explained. “I could no longer trust him. I could no longer lay with him. And it doesn’t make him a horrible person. We all make mistakes, but not with me and not on my time and not in my life.” Adding, “I saved myself first, before I was on a sinking ship. I just have too much to lose for someone else’s indiscretions.”
She did clarify one thing about the leaked tape, though, saying, “I sent it to my close friends.”
Looks like there was definitely no love lost once Arnold finally called it quits.
