When you read today’s headlines, it’s apparent that relationships between cops and inner-city communities have never been worse. But every once in a while, a story comes along that gives us all a little bit of hope.

On Monday’s episode of “Steve Harvey” (July 18), Steve highlights the story of LaVONTE DELL (age 28) and police officer JOSH SCAGLIONE (age 27) with the Westland Police Department. Earlier this year, Officer Scaglione had pulled over LaVonte and then realized his three-year-old daughter was not in a car seat. When LaVonte explained that he couldn’t afford a car seat, Officer Scaglione did the unthinkable. He made LaVonte follow him to the store, where he would purchase a car seat for LaVonte’s daughter, out of his own pocket!

The experience truly changed LaVonte, who had gone through negative experiences with police officers as a young man and has now changed his outlook towards police.

Tune-in to “Steve Harvey” on MONDAY, JULY 18 to hear more about LaVonte Dell and Officer Scaglione’s story.
