It’s been an emotional week for Mary J. Blige and her soon-to-be-ex-husband Kendu Isaacs. The couple recently announced their impending divorce after 13 years of marriage.
Now, the Queen of Hip Hop Soul has stepped up to confirm the news and her plans to move on. In an exclusive statement to People via her reps, Mary confronted the issue head on.
“Ms. Blige is saddened to say [that] it is true that she has filed for divorce, saying sometimes things don’t work how we hoped they would… but, there is a divine plan and a reason for everything. Mary will continue writing and working on her album, which is due out later this year along with her world tour. She thanks and appreciates her fans for their support and love through this very difficult emotional time.”
It’s unclear whether or not Mary will dish more details on the reason for the split, but if history is any indication, we may be able to draw insight from her upcoming new album.
