Founders Junior Council (FJC), the young professionals’ auxiliary of the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA), will host its signature fundraiser, Fash Bash®, in partnership with Neiman Marcus on Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016, at 7 p.m. at the DIA. Fash Bash 2016 proceeds will directly benefit the FJC’s recent pledge of $1 million to the museum’s endowment campaign.
One of the region’s most popular seasonal parties, and a record-breaking fundraiser for the museum, Fash Bash is a one-of-a-kind evening showcasing fashion, food and fun against the grand backdrop of the DIA. The celebration kicks off with an outdoor cocktail party, followed by Neiman Marcus’ “Art of Fashion” runway show in the DIA’s magnificent Great Hall. Drinks and dancing conclude the affair at the Lincoln Black Label After Party.

This year’s theme is borrowed from the Post-Modernist era idea of a “happening,” an event meant to be considered as art. Guests will be treated to a creative medley of unexpected happenings guaranteed to be pure fun and entertainment.

“A vibrant mix of fashion, art and philanthropy, Fash Bash offers a summer evening set in the incomparable cultural and architectural gem that is the Detroit Institute of Arts,” said Amy Zimmer, FJC president. “We can’t think of a better way to celebrate style, with the added benefit that the proceeds go toward the FJC’s $1 million pledge to the DIA’s operating endowment, the largest single commitment from an auxiliary in the DIA’s recorded history.”

Fash Bash® chairpersons for 2016 are Sarah and Calvin Ford, Tiffany and Tony Saunders and Carol and Mike Ziecik. For the third year, Ken Downing, Neiman Marcus senior vice president and Fashion director, will be coming to personally curate the “Art of Fashion” runway show.
