On Oct. 15, the menu at the Rivers Club consisted of barbeque ribs, cornbread, fried chicken, catfish, sweet potatoes, greens and potato salad. The dessert table was to die for and enticed the crowd to sample red velvet cake, sweet potato pie, pecan pie and bananas foster. The Soul Food Night has been an annual event at the Rivers Club for years. However, last month’s event was extra special as guests walked into a newly reinvented venue. With Tubby Daniels, Sandra Greencamp and Lyndsay Smith providing the soundtrack, the evening was one to remember. Veteran Rivers Clubs visitors thought they were on the wrong floor when the elevator doors opened to a brand new space. The Rivers Club is a member of the ClubCorp family and has been the centerpiece of Pittsburgh’s business and social community for more than 30 years. The reinvention brings a stylish new decor combined with expanded dining, social and business amenities, allowing the club to offer members more opportunities to connect, play, work, host and celebrate.
“This is an exciting time to be a part of the Rivers Club,” said Jack Kimbell, Rivers Club general manager. “The reinvention brings new energy, a new dynamic and really puts the Rivers Club in step with the lifestyle of today’s private club member.”
After dining on superb food, guests were invited to tour the beautifully renovated social rooms. The five themed Touchdown Rooms were a hit. These rooms are locally themed and allow members to reserve them for two hours at a time, and use them for meetings, private calls and interviews. The athletic facilities include full-service locker rooms, an indoor lap pool, a full basketball court, four squash courts, yoga, pilates, group exercise and spin cycling studios, full line of strength conditioning and cardiovascular equipment with cardio theater, and the River’s Edge cafe.
